A Taste of Classic Violin

by: FD Peralta
It has been another of Evangel Tabernacle’s far-reaching and bold effort to win Iloilo City to the saving knowledge of Christ this year—the September Harvest Month dubbed as “A Taste of Classics.” This five-Sunday evangelistic series that features captivating classic performances from music and dance, motion picture, to stage and highlighting on God’s Word is designed to advance the cause of the gospel and uphold Evangel’s call to be a beacon of hope to the surrounding communities.

The Harvest is kicked off with a classic act of worship—music—for a classic God.

A Treat of Classical Music
In a one-of-a-kind rendition of Johannes Brahms’s Sonatensatz and Christopf Willibald Glock’s Melodie’, the internationally acclaimed Kabayao Family Quartet serves the Evangelites and guests with delightful classical music that takes them to an ethereal journey into the beautiful spectrum of human emotions.

“Classical music is to be felt, to be heard, and to be enjoyed,” Mrs. Kabayao explains. “Whether we play classical or melody…it is a worship to God. To a Christian artist, any playing is a praise offering to God.”

Their music (Lift up the Lamb and Let us Praise the Almighty) creates a new experience of worship—one that touches the human heart and quickens the spirit to turn to God in one wordless worship.
The Kabayao Family Quartet (with virtuoso Mr. Gil Lopez and Mrs. Corazon Kabayao and children Sicilliene and Farida) in their performances shares the message of the giftedness that comes with serving the Lord.

Our Classic God
In his message, Rev. Toh Nee Lim reminds the people of who God is all this time—a classic God, one who entrusts the secrets of life to those who live for Him, who estimates a man’s worth by his character and daily walk with Him, and who holds the ultimate decision to all of man’s plans.

At the altar, he strongly enjoins the people to ‘put God above all other urgent calls of this world,’ citing his life as an example and boldly declaring, “God has made the right decision for my life.”

Old and new, Evangelites search their hearts in response to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Even newcomers, in a rare display of boldness, walk to the altar to receive Jesus into their lives and put their confidence on the classic God.

It has just been a successful start of a month-long harvest, and Evangel Tabernacle is all sleeves up to do the work for God and see lives, families, and communities change.

A Solemn Fast

Biblical fasting is the voluntary abstaining from food (and sometimes drink) for a spiritual purpose – to seek God with humility, repentance, prayer, and dependence. Biblical fasting is not about manipulating God but positioning ourselves before Him.

The Way Up Is Down

Humility is seen, lived, and perfected in Christ. Humility begins with Christ, not us. Humility is not a human virtue we perfect; it is a Christ revealed reality we can receive.

The Unfaithful Lover

Jesus came for two purposes: To represent the Faithful God, the God whose face was smitten because of another god and to present us to the Father as the redeemed unfaithful lovers.
