Miagao Medical Mission

Sept. 24 – 25, 2014

After a nerve wracking prep-time , it was almost touch and go for our Miagao Medical Missions … when we lacked the most important ingredient of one … a doctor . But Yahweh is never short on supply , and just in the nick of time , by His sovereign maneuvering plus the help of Pas Marlito Bechayda we came into contact with a Christian Medical Society whose specialty was (you guessed it right ) medical missions … and we were ‘All Systems GO’ by the time Sept. 24th arrived.

Now planning and actually getting there posed another challenge , trekking two hours on a mountainous incline that seemed never ending would zap the life out of you … but the view on top was just majestic … far from the bustle of city life and close to nature one could just wonder at the beauty of creation … and the creator .

Indeed our hearts were so touched by the many who came from far flung areas on foot in rough terrain … many among them seniors in their 60’s to 90’s who started trekking by 4 am to get to the center by 8 am … and they never seemed out of breath at all . Armed with nothing but our simple medical supplies and a whole lot of love , this simple act of kindness would break through barriers that bound , and bring us into the bond of love that heals . As head of the mission’s team Dr. Edie Chua said , ‘even medicine reaches it’s extremity , but use it as an opportunity to lead them to Christ.’

We would like to especially thank Bro. Rene & Sis. Paz Minguez, Barangay workers of Tig-amaga, Miagao for being our field workers … your hard work , gracious hospitality , and good food are worth commending . To Drs. Edie Chua, Zeferino Arroyo and Arsenia Mondala … your love of God and zeal for His service is a rarity indeed … we are doubly grateful and humbled by your testimony and commitment to our needy fellow men!

To our fellow evangelites, headed by Pas. Tohnee … who braved the mountains of Miagao … every painful step … every labored breath … every drop of sweat … every kilo lost … was worth it, for the Glory of God!

When The Righteous Suffer

Job is a man whose faith was in a God who is worthy to be feared (Job 1:1). The prose begins with a simple statement about a man in the land of Uz. The geographic location of this land is not certain. Some suggest it is near the ancient city of Damascus which borders the desert. It may be identified with Abraham’s nephew who was named Uz (Genesis 22:21).

Even In The Furnace

In Babylon’s religious culture, statues were frequently worshiped as gods. Nebuchadnezzar hoped to use this huge image as part of his strategy to centralize worship in order to unite the nation and solidify his power. When he made the statue, he showed that his devotion to Daniel’s God was short-lived.
