Reading Connect

By: Windeline Arsenal

It has always been in the DNA of Evangel Tabernacle to connect and touch the lives of the community. The church is not just concerned with the spiritual growth of its members but also their secular learning. Realizing that most of the children and the youth today have difficulty in reading and communicating in English, our senior Pastor, Rev. Toh Nee lim & Rev. Lily Lim, looked for ways on how to help this future generation be equipped and to be proficient in English.

Sister Swee Cheng, Diane and Margarette from Bethesda Frankle Singapore, who are all professionals and experts in the field, conducted a 15 day reading connect. The objective is to improve both the comprehension and grammar skills of the attendees. It was divided into 2 classes: the morning session was for the children which had 40 participants while the afternoon was for the youth with 30 participants. These teachers were assisted by volunteers from the church. Though 15 days is a bit short for children to be fluent in English, we believe that the basics and essentials taught by these wonderful teachers from Singapore truly made a difference.

And to reward the enthusiasm and faithfulness of the participants in learning, Sister Swee Cheng, Diane and Margarette brought the children to Play Barn (a playground for kids and adults) and the youth for a swimming get-away at Metropolis. As if that wasn’t enough, Sister Swee Cheng also treated all the staffs and volunteers with a sumptuous lechon.

The church together with the children are thankful to these dedicated teachers who in one way or another have been a tremendous blessing to us.

The God Who Sees The Man

Psalm 8 is a psalm or hymn of praise with wisdom connections. It is a poetic reflection of the great creation. Traditionally, the psalm is ascribed to David. It contains an INDIVIDUAL MEDITATION, “O LORD,” and it also embraces the COMMUNITY of God’s people, “our Lord.” However, the center of the psalm focuses on human beings, a rarity in Scripture with one of the best-known verses in all of the Bible: “What is man that You are mindful of him?”

God’s Judgments on Sin Are Certain

If you believe history, you must believe that our God is a God of judgment. In this age of unbelief there are many who do not want to believe that the God of heaven will administer justice in respect to sin.

Evil Bad Report

Two men, Caleb and Joshua, brought the same facts as the others. What is the difference in their report? The difference is in their interpretation of the facts because Caleb and Joshua included God.
