God Anoints His People To Preach Good News To The Poor, To Bind Up The Broken Hearted, To Proclaim Freedom For The Captives And To Proclaim That God’s Day Of Vengeance Has Come.

Isaiah 60-62 forms a unit that deals with the future of God’s people. You must read Isaiah 60-62 to get the whole picture. I have been reading Isaiah but I spent quite a while on 60-62 because it applies to me personally and also to this church as a whole. I should say that Isaiah 60-62 impressed me greatly and I felt YHWH was telling me something important: telling me it is time. YHWH wakes God’s people up to receive strangers who have come to worship him in their temple/churches. These foreign delegates bring with them great riches to offer as sacrifices to God. God no longer shows anger but compassion to His people. Righteousness and peace will replace violence and destruction in His people’s lives. God anoints his people to preach good news to the poor, to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and to proclaim that God’s day of vengeance has come. Ruined cities and devastated land will be restored. God’s people will become priests for the world and experience everlasting joy. So God’s people sings God’s praise.
