TKC Gift shop at Disney

By: Antonette Balungcas

Who would have thought that Disneyland would come all the way to Iloilo City. Yes, you read that right.

The TKC team spearheaded by Pastors Anelene Lujan and Rowena Elic and Sister Maricel de Ala thought it would be a great idea to take all the children to the happiest place in the world… for free! This year’s last gift shop was themed TKC at Disney where all the pastors, teachers and even kids had to come dressed in their favorite Disney costumes. Preparation started 2 weeks prior the event. Groups were formed and assigned different decorations and props making. From a make-believe castle to numerous green Christmas trees to gigantic gifts and colorful snowflakes and balls, all exerted much effort and creativity just to come up with unique designs. About 600 presents ranging from 20 to 50 points were neatly wrapped to be given to the children as their reward for being faithful children of God.

The main church hall was packed with 510 children. Just like any ordinary Sunday service, it started with Praise and Worship led by Sis Maricel de Ala. Followed by the awarding of best students for those who are devoted in attending and actively participating in their SCG classes. After that Pastor Anelene went on to preach a simple message on gifts and giving. She said that often times, we always expect material things to be given to us. That we usually neglect the important things in life like love, kindness, generosity, peace and most of all, Jesus who gave up his life for us.

Of course, to break some ice, we played some games such as Christmas Ball Relay and Longest Merry Christmas. After which, was the graduation rites of those who will no longer be attending kid’s church. A total of 28 graduates bid their goodbyes as they advance to the Youth Church . Although saddened by this, we are all still proud of how all of them have become and can’t wait for how much more they will be growing in Christ!

Indeed, it was a fun and successful day for all of us. All the hard work and sleepless nights are nothing when we see smiles lit up in all these children’s faces. It’s a privilege to serve those in whom God’s sight are precious.

Thank you dear pastors for standing behind us and for always believing we can. Thank you also, to Pastors Toh nee and Lily for the bountiful financial support and not to mention, the sumptuous after dinner. Above all, Glory to God who made everything possible.

The Way Up Is Down

Humility is seen, lived, and perfected in Christ. Humility begins with Christ, not us. Humility is not a human virtue we perfect; it is a Christ revealed reality we can receive.

The Unfaithful Lover

Jesus came for two purposes: To represent the Faithful God, the God whose face was smitten because of another god and to present us to the Father as the redeemed unfaithful lovers.

From Labor To Legacy

There are moments when God calls us to work, to serve, to labor quietly — even when no one notices. There are also moments when He allows testing — not to crush us, but to complete us.
