YC: Love is a Piece of Cake

By: Ann Marie Servito

Centuries have past and love was redefined by generations after generations. Now, this word acquired various meanings, depending on what kind of love appeals to a person at the moment. This Valentine’s day, the meaning of love in the Bible was revealed to us again. This God’s kind of love which most of the dictionaries have even failed to make us comprehend.

God loved us in spite of His Omniscience. Our filthiness can never be concealed from the all-knowing God but He still chooses to embrace us. He sees the depths of our hearts but He loves us the same. God isn’t ignorant of our deceitful heart but He still chose the cross. That is the best demonstration of agape, the unselfish love. It is Christ dying for His people knowing we may never love Him back.

God loved us in spite of His Omnipotence. God is all powerful. When He was dying on the cross, He had all the power to free Himself from shame, pain, and death but He chose to stay nailed on the cross. He could have ended everything in the entire cosmos with a single spoken word. He didn’t because He loves us.

He loved us so we can join Him in His Omnipresence. We are God’s heirs. The Lord want us to join him as brothers and sisters in omnipresence. Because He poured out the Holy Spirit upon us, we are somehow joined with believers everywhere. So that we can really be One body as salt and light in this world.

This Valentine’s Day, the ETab Youth Church entitled this special day: Love is a Piece of Cake. The Youth on Fire together with the TZOne wore their 60’s Retro Attire in accordance to the chosen theme. Booths and stations were set up on the garden to bring color to the day of hearts. Lots of young people enjoyed themselves in the photo booth, love notes, and most of the TZone played balloon darts and many more. The cakes served added to the festive atmosphere of the Youth Church, much thanks Pas. Lily for the Red-Velvet cakes! But above all this is the fact that this gathering isn’t just a merry-making but a celebration of the true meaning of love and that is God’s undying love for His children.
